Can you be charged a fee to get your salary?
Found this online job, translator from English to Spanish, it said I would be paid when work was done. I had it done in 24 hours, then he gave information to contact a girl to get my payment.
She got me to fill stuff online and my payment showed 3,000. I clicked on the payment method on the website and it said I needed a code. So I sent her a message, and she tried to tell me I had to pay for the code.
So I messaged the buddy back saying what's this having to pay for a code. He gave me information to contact another person to get payment. she got the information and then sent me papers saying to be linked to payroll I had to pay 100 bucks.
I was never told about having to pay anything. Won't give information to get in contact with boss. I don't know if this was some type of scam.

TL; DR: Yes this is a scam.
Any company or person that is actually planning on paying you, but there are associated fees to do so, will simply deduct those fees from what they are paying you. So in your scenario you would get a payment of $2,900 with a line item stating that they deducted $100 as a service fee. If it was me I would still be upset at such a large service fee, and I would likely fight over that missing $100 if they blind sided me with it, but at least I got the $2,900.
If you signed a contract you could try and sue them, but if the company is fake then there is no real entity to sue. Also what you translated for them was likely also fake and holds no value to them (and they likely gave the same fake document to many other people to translate). As such where they are trying to profit is getting you to pay them that $100.
